The SOUTH AFRICAN MASTERS SPORTS ASSOCIATION (SAMSA) was founded on 6 February 1993 in Pretoria. 18 Sports codes were present at the inaugural meeting registering as founder and full members.

At present 60 different sports are actively involved in the promotion of "Sport for Life" with regular participation in national and international competitions and championships. South African Masters have brought home many gold, silver and bronze medals over the past 10 years and some have been crowned World Master Champions.

The Netball Reunion was held on Saturday 9 May 2009.
